Customer has Accpac Plus for Dos, running on a Novell server and XP Pro workstation. The workstations crashed from a power fail. When they were rebooted, Accpac worked, but Softline Report manager, Contact Manager and Customer lookup put up this error

"No Multiuser pack installed"

This makes me think some kind of corruption occurred on the workstation.

The softline products are all single user, although Accpac is a 4 user install. Softline can't seem to connect to the database which is pervasive. We are looking at upgrades, but the reports are important to the business, since the vendors want them every few weeks.
Thanks in advance

Hi:
The ACCPAC Plus database is proprietary, not Pervasive.
These products were discontinued many years ago.
Does your client have a complete backup? If so, you should check the hard disk, if possible, and if it's OK, restore the backup.
If the hardware is no good, you would need to find something that can run XP which is unlikely.
We can help you migrate to windows-based Adagio which will convert the ACCPAC Plus data and then re-create the reports in Adagio Gridview.

I meant Softline Report Master for Windows, which is connected somehow, (or was connected before the crash) to the Accpac for Dos OE, IC, and AR data.

ACCPAC Plus is old but still serviceable. Softline Report Master for Windows is old but not serviceable. You should stop using it, especially since there are replacements for it.

Howard's advice is sound, although he doesn't mention that Adagio GridView works with ACCPAC Plus data, if you are reluctant to switch fully to Adagio. Adagio GridView takes the data and spits it out in Excel format. For someone who has mastered Report Master for Windows, it should be fairly easy to learn.

What do you mean by serviceable? I don't know how to change reports in Report Master, and it doesn't seem worth learning since none of them are out there. I agree we should stop using it since it only runs on XP Pro. The customer also has a Novell 4.9 server as well, so they are on thin ice and it is time to change a lot of things.

Hi Peter

By "not serviceable" I mean there is no support for Report Master for Windows, even among us "diehard" ACCPAC Plus folks. So when something goes wrong, like in your case, there is no one to turn to. At least with ACCPAC Plus, there are still a few of us alive who know it!
