Hi All,

I am using Accpac Plus 6.5 on an old computer with an XP operating system.

Recently a warning appeared on the screen that very soon XP and Vista will no be supported by Google Chrome.

When google chrome stopped support on XP vista, how will this affect my Accpac Plus software?

Hi Tony"
Google Chrome is your Internet Browser. It is wisely letting you know that XP is no longer supported, that security updates are no longer issued and you should no longer be using Windows XP.

That said, since ACCPAC Plus hasn't the foggiest idea what the internet and a browser are, it will not affect your ACCPAC Plus at all.

It is time for you to move to a Windows accounting system. Adagio is a modular, flexible, easy to use windows-based accounting program that is the best upgrade path for ACCPAC Plus (DOS) users. Adagio is functionally compatible with ACCPAC Plus albeit with many, many improvements. Adagio will easily and quickly convert the ACCPAC Plus data resulting in a fast, low-pain migration and has screen layouts, reports and business logic that is similar to ACCPAC Plus resulting in a very simple learning curve and minimal re-training. Adagio's reports are very similar to ACCPAC Plus.

Howard,

Thanks for your reply. I was just concerned about the warning.

Anyway, I already have Adagio GL 8.1A and am also very happy with it.

In fact I also recommended Adagio GL 8.1A to 2 of my friends who have bookkeeping and tax service. We just could not part with our A+ GL because we love it so much and shall abandon it only when it finally quits working.

Adagio Ledger 9.2A is superior to Accpac Plus GL in the following ways:
  • Unlimited years of history.
  • Year end does not clear the transaction details.
  • Open the next year without waiting to close the current year.
  • Drill down from the financial statement all the way to the balanced journal entry.
  • Post a batch while someone enters another batch.
  • Copy batches or journal entries, adjusting fiscal periods, dates, descriptions or references during the copy.
  • Edit batches directly in the Archive system.
  • Auto-balance entry while entering a batch.
  • Visit amounts first while entering a repetative journal entry.
  • Audit trail batch batch entry, edit and post.
  • Print GL Detail Listing spanning fiscal years.
  • Single click export to Excel of account or transaction information.
  • Report sets to gather all month end reports into a single print run.
  • Automated generation of PDF reports with emailing.
  • Automatic export of multiple financial statements to a single Excel workbook in a single click.
  • Side-by-side departmental comparative financial statements.
  • User level departmental security control allows users to see just the departments they are responsible for.
  • 2 Lines of Account Description
  • 2 Lines of Journal entry description
  • Recover deleted/posted batches function
  • Optional Unpost/reverse posted batch function
  • Ready to Post feature
  • Company Profile option to post 'postable' entries in a batch and create new batch with unpostable
  • Clone a company
  • Exclude inactive accounts from reports

OK, I'm tired of writing.

You do yourself and your clients a tremendous disservice by not moving to Ledger 9.2A just to maintain compatibility with a product that has been unsupported for 20 years.

Hi Andrew,

How much would it cost to migrate from Adagio General Ledger 8.1A to Adagio GL 9.2A?

Thanks,
Tony

Hi Tony:
We are an Adagio dealer in New York, NY, USA.
Assuming that you only have Adagio Ledger standalone (no LanPak) and are a registered user, the prior version upgrade is $1,200 USD. We would be happy to sell it to you if you'd like to contact us.

Hi Howard,

Thanks for the offer.

Actually, the ones that I have to convince is my friends who have bookkeeping and tax service.

To convince them to migrate, I would like to know the features enumerated above by Andrew that Adagio Ledger 9.2A would do but the Adagio Ledger 8.1A does not have.

Can you please provide the information?

Thanks,
Tony

Hi Tony:
Adagio Ledger V8.1 is now 9 years old! One would hope there have been many improvements since then and there have been. Softrak is pretty good about updating the Adagio products on a regular basis with new features and improvements requested by their user base.

Since Adagio Ledger V8.1 was database-compatible with ACCPAC Plus, most of the Adagio Ledger V9.2 features that Andrew kindly enumerated in great detail above were not available in V8.1.

The ability to have 2 years open and not having to close the current year before retrieving/entering transactions and printing reports in the new year is huge and in and of itself enough reason to upgrade. Being able to keep multiple years of history in one dataset and being able to print detail reports from previous years is also pretty big.

If you want to take a look version by version, please review this document:
