Hi

We are running AccPac 5.3 Single CPU (Dual Core) Server 4Gb ram, SQL 2000

Our OEORDD and OEINVDD tables both exceed 4gb in size
Database overall is 24Gb

Posting with say 1-60 item included usually exceeds 30 secs, even past 45 secs

I have tried many things, dump and reload to no avail

The server does not seem loaded, (checking via perfmon)

What other options do I have to get this system running more efficiently. Can we tune the databases at all?

We have been running Accpac for more than 5 years now and its slowyl grinding to a halt.

Any advice appreciated.

1. Upgrade Accpac, SQL, or both
2. Clear some history

MS SQL is slow on database inserts, so posting transactions is where it suffers.
You can enable AWE in MS SQL Server, this will allow it to use more RAM. You may also need to enable PAE on the Windows server.
As Jay says, upgrading Accpac and/or SQL will give you better performance.
And clear some OE history.

Thx for the advice.

What should I upgrade to?

Firstly - SQL 2005? or 2008?

What is the lastest version I Accpac I should aim for?

cheers

Mike

With Accpac 5.3 stick to SQL2005, if you upgrade to Accpac 5.5 then go with SQL2008, although there is not much difference IMO.
Users are getting good performance with 64 bit OS and 64bit SQL2005/2008 and plenty RAM.
